Riotous Strokes
A visual journey in a complex landscape
“Riotous Strokes” is a two-word summary of my landscapes and bears. I do not simplify subjects, but rather layer color and irregular, seeming random brushstrokes on the canvas in an impressionistic style with abstract elements. From up close, the canvas is a maze of unstructured strokes of color, irregular, interwoven, multilayered and anything but simple. This is my vision of the landscape, harsh elements, sharp lines, rough shapes and random pops of color that blend and harmonize as we step back and take it in from a distance. I am painting from the heart, combining images, creating pieces that capture the complexity of place.
